After enjoying some breakfast (the pic to the right is taken from our hotel room's lanai - in the distance is the ocean) we drove to Kalapaki Beach, which is located in front of the Marriott Resort. It looked a little boring (but great for little kids and families). So we got back on the road and drove into Po'ipu. We saw a Shrimp Truck on the side of the road and knew from experience on Oahu that this could possibly be a delicious place for lunch. The Savage Shrimp
Truck did not disapoint! I cannot tell you how good this shrimp is. It was served with rice (of course) and a coleslaw with a yummy dressing. After washing our hands (the shrimp is covered in sauce and not peeled), we drove to the Spouting Horn. It is a lava rock formation on the shore where the waves go underneath it and then shoot up out of a hole in the rock. It is like Old Faithful, only it happens every few seconds. It makes a cool/spooky sound when the water goes back out. We browsed in the mini flea market located near Spouting Horn. There are chickens ALL OVER the island and I snapped a shot of one of the hundreds that we saw. I guess when Hurricane Iniki hit it let a bunch of the chickens loose and they've been running around wild and having lots of babies ever since. It is weird to see chickens near the beach, at the tops of the mountains, on the streets, all over the hotel grounds, EVERYWHERE.
We then headed to Po'ipu Beach. It was very windy. There was a little island just off the shore (100-200 feet?) that we walked over to, by walking on the rocks and swimming. Then we hung out in the water for a while and relaxed.
We got back in the car and returned to Kealia Beach (Abe's beach). There we played in the waves for at least 2 hours straight. When we got tired and hungry and went back into Kapa'a for dinner at a place called L&L's. We ordered plates with spam, beef, and chicken, all served over rice. Back at the hotel we soaked in the hot tub and swam in the pool and called it a night.
